Happy December! Christmas is just around the corner and there are so many ethical shops + small businesses that we want to share before you finish your gift shopping! So for the next 12 (week)days, we will be featuring 12 ethical shops or small businesses, hear their mission and heart behind the products they sell and provide links directly to their stores! Who knew Holiday shopping could be so easy!
Follow along and there may or may not be a giveaway at the end ;)
For the first day of Christmas, we'd like to introduce you to a beautiful home goods shop in Salt Lake City Utah! We got the chance to chat with founder, Amelia Jones, and hear what she had to say about Mae Woven!
Where are you from and why did you decide to start Mae Woven?
Hi! My name is Emmy Jones and I live in Salt Lake City, Utah with my husband, two kids, and pup. I started my business in hopes to create more soulful, affordable home decor after being disappointed while looking to decorate my own home.
What is your mission and vision for your business and why are you passionate about it?
We are seeking out and hope to find more amazing, talented artisans throughout the world. It is an incredible feeling being able to provide jobs for people, here locally as well!
What is your favorite part of your business?
Recently my mom started working with us & has quickly become invaluable. It has been so neat working so closely with her, building the business as well as our relationship.
What is the hardest part of your business?
There are growing pains of course. Running a small business is HARD, especially while juggling being a mom as well. But I do feel like there is beauty in the process & all good things take work!
Why is it important to support small and/or ethical businesses?
I love a quote I saw recently about when you buy small there is an actual person cheering on the other side! It’s so true! We see and appreciate every single order. And I cannot express how amazing it feels to see people loving and using our products. It is still surreal!
How can our audience shop in your store?
Thank you guys so much for sharing a bit of your heart behind your shop, we hope you have a very Merry Christmas and wonderful New Year!
