It's been almost two months since our visit to Bethel China in Beijing, and the sounds, images, and smiles from those children continue to play through my head. I thought a building full of visually impaired orphans would feel like a hopeless place, but this place is bursting at the seams with hope! You see hope in the workers, you see it in the volunteers, and you see it in the children. In case you missed some of our earlier posts about Bethel, here is a little recap. Bethel China brings visually impaired orphans into their care, and they teach them life skills, educate them, love on them, and advocate for them in their own society and around the world. Without Bethel a lot of these children would never even learn to walk because they would not receive the specialized attention that they need. Bethel is able to give them that attention and so much more.
I am forever humbled by these children and the people who care for them. The joy they posses, the love they show others, and the determination to not be hindered by their disability is something I will carry with me forever. I hope this video gives you a small window into their world. I hope you get a glimpse of what life is like for them and that you want to be a part of it.
