What will you do with what you know? This question has been stated in my presence, never actually directed at me, twice in the past 12 hours. The first time it struck me in a, 'that's intense, haven't heard that since college, in one ear out the other', kind of way. But the second time I heard it my spirit received it a little different. I was chatting with a friend and we were talking about being obedient when she said, "I mean, its like, what are we going to do with what we know?" She wasn't talking about "we" as in the two of us, she was referring to her family, but I still couldn't get the question out of my mind.
What will I do with what I've been shown, with the faces and the lives that I've come into contact with? We are a very young nonprofit and have traveled with 4 families on their adoption journeys. We have heard praises and horror stories, excuses and prayer requests. We've met 11 year old children, still living in cribs with legs no larger in circumference than 2 or 3 inches. I'm not sure what else we can do but document and share their stories with the world. My heart aches to do more yet we are limited.
Each one of us is limited to the knowledge that we have been given. We can always learn more but we will never know all. I believe today is a good day to ask ourselves, What can we do with what we know?
