I woke up this morning and as my loose leaf, green tea steeped, I flipped my bible to Galatians.“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10 I stopped. I put down my pen. So many faces flooded my vision as story after story raced through my mind. More times than not have I heard of opposition when it comes to adoption. Families, who selflessly and sacrificially open their hearts and homes to a child born not of their own flesh have been challenged on their choices. Parents, siblings, best friends, a concerned grocery store clerk, and even a pastor of a well known/mega church have brought opposing views to parents and tried to talk them out of adoption. I understand the need to be refined, and for loved ones to hold us accountable out of pure love, but those are not the motives of so many. I want to encourage you. Whoever you are, you are worthy, you are wonderfully made. If you have chosen to go through with adoption you have a calling on your life and your family. Beloved, don’t be swayed by the fears and approval of man. You are on this journey to save a child, you a missionary, your mission field is this child’s life. Your job does not end with ‘Gotcha Day’, those who have adopted know this all to well. To be called to care for one of God’s little children is one of the most amazing gifts (even though it brings unimaginable challenges), you are doing the right thing. Your choice is a pleasing and sweet aroma to our Savior. Thank you for your obedience, thank you for your love.
